The Opportunity
The Faculty of Science has an exciting opportunity for a Research Fellow to join the School of Physics and Astronomy. The School is committed to teaching and research of the highest quality and aims to position itself as one of the top physics and astronomy research and teaching departments in Australia.
Reporting to Associate Professor Christophe Pinte, the Research Fellow will conduct research relating to star and planet formation and protoplanetary discs as part of an Australian Research Council project grant “Mapping the physics of planet formation”. We are looking for a candidate who will complement our existing expertise in this area in either observations or modelling of discs, with freedom for the appointee to set their own research direction within the broad goals of the project.
This position is suited to a highly motivated individual who holds a PhD in the relevant discipline or a closely related field, expertise in astronomical data analysis and/or simulation techniques within the field of star and planet formation, and the ability to independently initiate and write observing proposals or supercomputing time allocations.
This role is a full-time position; however, flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.
