Job Description

The Agnes Scott College Department of Physics and Astronomy is seeking applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor to begin August 2021. This position is a one-year appointment with teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate level, three courses each semester. Introductory classes typically have 25-30 students, and upper level classes have 10-15 students. A full listing of courses in the Department are here. Possible courses to be taught (subject to change based on expertise) include PHY 202/203 (Calculus-based introductory physics), PHY 210 (Modern Physics) and AST 120L (Introductory Astronomy Night Lab). A PhD or equivalent terminal degree is required for a Visiting Assistant Professor position; MA, MS, and ABD candidates will be considered for appointment at the Visiting Instructor level. Evidence of excellence or promise of excellence in teaching at the college level is also required.
