Postdoctoral Position in Computational Astrophysics
Job Summary
Job Description
Applicants are invited for a postdoctoral position at the Institute of Astronomy (IoA) at National Tsing Hua University (NTHU) to work in the group of Prof. H.-Y. Karen Yang.
Our current research is focused on AGN and galactic-wind feedback in the universe, with particular interest in hydrodynamics/MHD, cosmic rays (CRs), and plasma physics. The successful candidate will contribute to a research program that aims to study the impact of CRs on galaxies and clusters. Candidates with relevant backgrounds and computational expertise are encouraged to apply, although all exceptional candidates in theoretical and numerical astrophysics will be considered.
There are ample resources available to IoA at NTHU: a new Center for Informatics and Computation in Astronomy (CICA), an in-house High Performance Computing facility, access to the Taiwania supercomputer, and a strong community of both theoretical and observational astrophysicists with a broad range of expertise.
The IoA is committed to an inclusive, supportive working environment that values equality and diversity. We strongly encourage applicants who consider their background, personal characteristics or career path to be underrepresented in academia.
The appointment will initially be for two years, with an extension to three years contingent on performance. Applicants should send a cover letter, CV, publication list, and research statement (max. 3 pages) as a single PDF to [email protected] and arrange for three letters of reference to be sent to the same email by Dec. 18, 2020.
For further information about the IoA, see http://www.astr.nthu.edu.tw. Informal inquiries can be made to Prof. H.-Y. Karen Yang.
