The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) is seeking a full-time Lecturer to teach Introductory Astronomy and Physics courses beginning fall semester 2023. This is a non-tenure track position with a 9-month academic year appointment and full benefits. This position has the potential to be renewed. There are no assigned duties during the summer months, but there are opportunities for summer teaching for additional salary.
Responsibilities will include teaching multiple sections of introductory astronomy and/or physics courses, managing teaching assistants assigned to the courses, holding at least four office hours per week, and mentoring undergraduate research projects. We seek an individual who has an abiding interest in teaching and can motivate students to learn through student-centered learning techniques.
Minimum Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Physics or Astronomy or a related field; or M.S. in Physics or Astronomy or a related field with at least one year of teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to teach introductory astronomy and/or physics in large-enrollment introductory courses.
