Job Announcement Text:

The cosmology section of the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) and the Beecroft Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology (BIPAC) at the University of Oxford, seek candidates to apply for postdoctoral positions in Cosmology. Applicants with expertise in observational and theoretical modelling of galaxy clustering, weak gravitational lensing, and/or secondary CMB anisotropies are particularly encouraged to apply.

The successful applicant will be first appointed at DIPC for 1 year. The astrophysics and cosmology group at DIPC consists of 4 staff members, 6 postdocs, and 7 PhD students and it’s located in the coastal city of Donostia-San Sebastian in Spain. Specifically, the applicant will join the group of Prof. Raul Angulo which focuses on the theoretical modelling of cosmological probes via supercomputer simulations.

Once the first appointment finishes, BiPAC at the University of Oxford will be looking to appoint a further 1-year position. The BiPAC consists of 5 staff members, 14 postdocs, and 9 PhD students. Specifically, the candidate will join the group of Prof. Pedro Ferreira and Prof. David Alonso which focuses on the exploitation of large cosmological datasets and probes of LCDM physics.

Throughout the appointments, the candidate is expected to collaborate in joint projects with the Beecroft Institute for Particle Astrophysics and Cosmology (BIPAC) at the University of Oxford led by Prof. Pedro Ferreira and Prof. David Alonso which focuses on the exploitation of large cosmological datasets and probes of the LCDM physics. The appointee is also expected to regularly travel between both locations and start new collaborations and projects to strengthen the ties between the two groups.

The start of the appointment is September 2023, although a later date is possible. The duration of the position can be extended for a third year subject to performance and availability of funding. The position has no teaching duties associated, comes with generous travel funds, and the co-supervision of PhD and summer students is possible and encouraged.

Interested candidates, please send:

1) a CV,

2) a brief statement of interests and goals (maximum 3 pages), and

3) a publication list,

via e-mail to [email protected] (Subject: "Joint DIPC-Oxford cosmology Postdoc 2022"). Additionally, the candidate should arrange for 3 reference letters to be sent to the same address.

For full consideration, applications and reference letters should be received by December 15th, 2022.
