Job Announcement Text:

We seek to appoint a research associate to work on the Newton Fund project “Building Capacity for Thai Radio Astronomy”. The post-holder will work with Dr Mark Thompson, Dr James Dale and Dr Martin Krause, and will also work closely with the outreach teams in Hertfordshire and at the National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand. The main duty of the research associate will be to support the creation of a radio astronomy planetarium show called “The Radio Sky”.

Experience in manipulating or processing astronomical radio observations and/or spectroscopic data from large area/all-sky surveys is essential, with experience of either giving or designing planetarium shows being particularly desirable. Additionally, applicants must have experience of public engagement or outreach in astronomy. A willingness to travel to Thailand and work closely with their outreach team is essential.

The starting salary will be on the UH6 scale at point 24 and is expected to be £27,285 incrementing annually. Consideration to appointment at a higher salary point will be given in the case of post-doctoral or relevant experience.
