Job Description

Columbia University in the City of New York invites applications for a full-time post-doctoral research scientist position at the Columbia Astrophysics Laboratory, to carry out observational investigations of neutron star phenomena.

The successful candidate will work with research scientists Dr. Eric Gotthelf and Dr. Slavko Bogdanov and will participate in and extend ongoing research programs, as well as pursue their own research. The candidate will have proven research ability and evidence of future research potential. Experience in analysis and interpretation of radio, X-ray, and/or gamma-ray data, pulsar search techniques and timing analysis, proficiency in coding and proposal writing, is preferred.

The appointment is initially for two year, with the possibility of renewal for one additional year; this is contingent upon the availability of funds and on-going progress. A Ph.D. or an equivalent degree in physics, astronomy, or a related field is required. The nominal but negotiable start date for this position is September 1, 2020 or earlier.
