We seek a postdoctoral researcher who has conducted, on the highest international level. research on data science topics in astronomy. This research should be documented through publications in journals with significant impact. Topics of particular interest concern research on machine learning techniques in observational or numerical astrophysics.
This position is intended to pursue research in machine learning in astronomy and help lead research within the “Platform for Challenges in Data Science” in the Cluster of Excellence Quantum Universe. In the latter function the holder of this position is expected to collaborate with scientists from other disciplines. The position is remunerated at the public salaray level E14. The Hamburger Sternwarte hosts a strong team that conducts astronomical research on many topics and provides excellent computing facilities.
