Job Description

A public selection is called for qualifications and interview, for the awarding of 3rd level grants for collaboration in research activities to be carried out in the following Departments of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata”.

The annual value of the 3rd level research grants amounts to € 25,613.00 net of charges to be borne by the issuing Administration.

In the case of candidates who are resident or live more than 500 km away from the location where the selection interview is to be held the examining Commission will carry out the interviews with long distance communication instruments, using IT, audio and video supports. 

The fellow will mainly work on the following projects of observational cosmology; 1) optimization of the Sunyaev-Zel' dovich signal extraction from current and future cmb data sets), 2) development of new tools to fully exploit the spectral-imaging capabilities of x-ray telescopes. The research activity will also focus on the data analysis and physical interpretation of galaxy clusters observations in the microwave band with planck and/or other sz instruments like spt or in the x-ray band with Chandra and XMM-Newton . The ideal candidate should have excellent knowledge of the physics of galaxy clusters and proved experience in data analysis of observations of galaxy clusters in microwave or x-ray bands. It is also required programming skills with different languages that includes Fortran, C/C++ and IDL
