Job Description
The Center for Gravitational Waves and Cosmology (GWAC) at West Virginia University invites applications for the GWAC Postdoctoral Fellowship. The postdoctoral fellow will carry out a research program that is synergistic with current research activities in the Center, which include theoretical and/or observational studies of compact objects, the interstellar medium, general relativity, gravitational waves, radio transients, and galaxy formation and evolution. The Center currently consists of ten faculty members, four postdocs, and roughly 25 graduate students. Candidates with research interests that span those of multiple Center faculty are particularly encouraged to apply. The position requires a PhD in Astronomy, Physics or a related discipline, and experience in astrophysics research related to the goals of the Center as a graduate student and/or postdoc. Code development and data analysis skills, demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication, and/or experience in science outreach and education are preferred. The position is for two years, renewable for a third year upon satisfactory performance.
