Postdoctoral Position in Extragalactic Astrophysics: Reionization and High Redshift Galaxies with JWST
Job Summary
Job Description
Applications are invited for post-doctoral research positions at the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. The successful candidate will participate in and contribute to the new ERC-funded research project ``FIRSTLIGHT: Exploring Cosmic Dawn with James Webb Space Telescope'' with Prof. Marusa Bradac on high redshift galaxies and their role in reionizing the Universe. The position will be available for a duration of at least 3 years, with a possible extension of up to a maximum of 5 years in total. The candidate will have an excellent opportunity to have access to guaranteed observing time with JWST as a part of the CANUCS NIRISS GTO team. Previous experience in the analysis of spectroscopic data, gravitational lensing analyses, or work with simulations of galaxies is considered a plus, but not necessary. A fraction of the successful candidate's time is expected to be devoted to independent research. Ample funding for research infrastructure and travel is available. The University of Ljubljana astrophysics group hosts a strong research program in astrophysics and provides a stimulating environment.
The appointment is expected to start on or before September 1 2023 and requires the completion of a Ph.D. by that date. Applicants should submit a statement of research interests, publication list, and CV, and should arrange for three letters of reference to be sent by December 15 2022. E-mail submission to [email protected] is preferred. Full consideration will be given to applications received by December 5, 2022.
