Job Description

The Department of Astrophysical Sciences, Princeton University, anticipates offering a number of postdoctoral or more senior research positions in theory, observation and instrumentation, including (but not limited to): the Lyman Spitzer, Jr. Postdoctoral Fellowship; the Henry Norris Russell Postdoctoral Fellowship; the Joint Carnegie Observatories and Princeton University Postdoctoral Fellowship; and positions in research related to: cosmology; ISM/star formation; plasma astrophysics; plasma theory and simulation; protostellar-disk winds; and astronomical software.

Applicants may work with the Department’s distinguished faculty and research staff. For a full list of department members and activities, see http://www.princeton.edu/astro. There are also strong research groups with interests in astrophysics at the Princeton Plasma Physics Lab, in the Physics, Geosciences, and Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Departments, and at the nearby Institute for Advanced Study. Appointments are for one year, renewable annually based on satisfactory performance and continued funding, with the expectation of up to three years. The expected start date is September 1, 2019, though earlier starting dates may be negotiated. Applicants with an interest in mentoring underrepresented students in science and mathematics may wish to be involved in the Department’s post-baccalaureate program (link).
