The Opportunity
The Faculty of Science at Monash University has a strong research reputation. Reporting to a senior academic, the Research Fellow will collaborate with other academics carry out research on electromagnetic observations as part of the Australian Research Council (ARC) Centre of Excellence for Gravitational-Way Discovery (OzGrav). OzGrav is a $40M Centre of Excellence funded by the ARC starting in 2017. The mission is to capitalize on the historic first detections of gravitational waves to understand the extreme physics of black holes and warped spacetime.
About You
As the successful candidate you will have doctoral qualification (awarded or near completion) in Astrophysics with experience in time-domain optical astronomy (or closely allied field).
You will be expected to collaborate with OzGrav members at other partner universities, publish papers in high-impact journals, present results in major conferences and collaboration meeting, and assist to supervise students.
