POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Astronomy Department at the University of California , Berkeley seeks applications for a postdoctoral researcher. The postdoc will conduct research with the Moving Universe Lab under the supervision of Professor Jessica Lu in the Astronomy Department at UC Berkeley. 

The postdoc will contribute to the groups search for stellar mass black holes in the Milky Way with a mission to understand black hole demographics, origins and evolution. The successful applicant will lead and participate in observational, theoretical or experimental projects in line with this mission. They will work with Professor Lu to develop new programs, support existing ones, and mentor graduate and undergraduate students. The postdoc may analyze observational data from ground and space telescopes, model gravitational lensing events, compare with theoretical simulations, and participate in group research discussions and help advise undergraduate students in the group.
