Applications are invited for a postdoctoral appointment in extragalactic astronomy at Leiden Observatory. The successful candidate will work in the group of Prof. Mariska Kriek.
Research areas currently being pursued by the group include: the kinematic and structural evolution of galaxies over cosmic time, stellar populations and metal compositions of distant quiescent galaxies, and detailed studies of gas, dust and star formation in distant galaxies. Future work will focus on ultra-deep spectroscopic datasets obtained with Keck/MOSFIRE+LRIS and JWST/NIRSpec, deep multi-wavelength photometric datasets, as well as ALMA observations.
Candidates in all areas of extragalactic astronomy will be considered, and are encouraged to apply. Applicants must have a PhD in physics, astronomy, or a closely related field at the time of appointment. The postdoc is for three years, subject to a review during the second year. The starting date is negotiable.
