The Physics and Astronomy Department at Oberlin College invites applications for a full-time non-continuing faculty position in the College of Arts and Sciences. Appointment to this position will be for a term of 1 year, beginning fall of year 2020, and will carry the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor.
The incumbent will teach a total of five courses during the academic year 2020-2021. The courses will include a general audience astronomy course and a junior-level astrophysics course on stars and planets. The remaining courses will be in our introductory algebra-based physics course sequence.
Among the qualifications required for appointment is the Ph.D degree (in hand or expected by first semester of academic year 2020-2021). Candidates must demonstrate interest and potential excellence in undergraduate teaching. Successful teaching experience at the college level is desirable.
