Job Description

In total, seven Postdoc-Positions in Theoretical Multi-Messenger astrophysics are available.

The first batch of three  postdoc positions are funded by the Excellence Cluster "Quantum Universe" hosted by the University of Hamburg and they are immediately available (with the below deadline). The second batch of four  postdoc positions will be funded by the European Research Council in the framework of the ERC Advanced Grant "From inspiral to kilonova" (INSPIRATION). Applicants interested in positions from either batch are encouraged to apply already now, but the second batch may be separately advertised in a few months.

The successful research associates will conduct original research on the timely topic of “Theoretical Multi-Messenger Astrophysics” in the group of Prof. Stephan Rosswog. The particular focus will be on the theoretical/numerical modelling of the electromagnetic and neutrino signals of major gravitational wave sources. Demonstrated expertise in the relevant areas of theoretical astrophysics (general relativity, hydrodynamics, nuclear equations of state, neutrino physics/transport, nuclear reactions and/or radiative transfer) and of computational physics/supercomputing are of particular interest.
