RIKEN iTHEMS invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position to work on a research project in high energy astrophysics fields. The project, led by Dr. Yoshiyuki Inoue, is partly funded by the Leading Initiative for Excellent Young Researchers (LEADER) program “Unveiling the nature of supermassive black holes by linking theory and observations”.
The successful applicant will work on X-ray and/or gamma-ray data analysis related to high energy astrophysical phenomena in a broad sense. The successful applicant is also expected to participate in the interdisciplinary interactions among different fields such as mathematics, physics, chemistry, life science, astronomy, computational science and information science under the concept of iTHEMS.
Applicants must have Ph.D. or expect to receive Ph.D. before the date of the appointment.
One-year fixed-term employment contract, renewable, and based on evaluation, within a period of three years from date of hire. The salary system is annual and will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Commuting and housing allowances will be provided. Social insurance will apply. Research fund (700,000 JPY/year) will be provided. Also, eligible for JSPS grant application.
