The College of Arts and Sciences – Department of Physics invites applications for a postdoctoral research position in the new computational stellar astrophysics group, led by Prof. Shazrene Mohamed. The successful candidate will work on developing detailed, multi-dimensional models of evolved stars, their interactions with nearby companions, and their explosions. As such, preference will be given to candidates with a strong interest in stellar astrophysics and background in any of the following: (magneto)hydrodynamics, radiative transfer, dust physics, explosive nucleosynthesis, and astrochemistry synthesis and modeling. 

Core job functions

 Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned.

1. Prepares research reports and technical papers for publishing.

2. Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories.

3. Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.

4. Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions.

5. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Education: Ph.D. in relevant field

Experience: No prior experience required
