Job Description

The I. Physics Institute would like to renew and strengthen its expertise in the field of Sub-mm Astronomy. Possible research topics include, but are not limited to, star and planet formation and the interstellar medium in nearby and distant galaxies up to cosmological scales. Collaboration with existing research topics in the I. Physics Institute (e.g., in the ongoing CRC 956) is required and a participation in the CCAT-prime observatory, of which the University of Cologne is a major partner, is highly desired. In addition, it is welcome if the successful applicant will take an interest in projects like SKA and in the development of novel detectors for sub-mm astronomy. 

We are looking for a person with an outstanding research and teaching track record with successful acquisition of competitive third-party funding. The successful applicant should represent the fields of astrophysics and experimental physics with respect to research and teaching in the main curriculum of the physics undergraduate program on the BSc. and MSc. level. Further tasks encompass the committed participation in academic self-administration.
