The Department of Physics invites applications for three fellowships in the University of Oxford Hintze Centre for Astrophysical Surveys, funded through the Hintze Family Charitable Foundation. The Centre is focused on the exploitation of current surveys to build a platform for Oxford participation in LSST, Euclid, SKA and the EELT. We are seeking three fellows with research interests in respectively cosmology, galaxy evolution and astrophysical transients. The fellows will be encouraged to develop a personal research programme that should overlaps with the current interests of Oxford Astrophysics. The appointments, which start in October 2019, are for two years in the first instance, extendable for a third year subject to satisfactory performance.
Successful candidates will hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD/DPhil in a relevant area of astronomy or astrophysics, should have a demonstrated capacity for independent work and be capable of initiating research in a lively group. They will have the opportunity to teach and may benefit from a college association.
Salary will be within the range £32236.00 - £39609.00 per annum depending on qualifications and experience. A benefits package and a support for travel and other research expenses will be available.
