Announcement
Job Announcement Text:

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position in JWST direct imaging of exoplanetary systems at the Laboratoire d’Astrophysique de Marseille (France). The position is nominally for 2 years with possibility of 1 year extension. The position will start as soon as possible after September 1, 2022, and preferentially before January 1, 2023.

Description
The researcher will primarily work on JWST coronagraphic imaging observations of exoplanetary systems. The position has 2 main goals: The first goal is to lead the astrophysical analysis and interpretation of several Cycle 1 JWST observations, including GTO MIRI imaging of 4 know exoplanets companions and ERS MIRI imaging of a young debris disk system. The second goal is to optimize image processing techniques to improve the detection limits with JWST. The researcher will be associated to any JWST proposals of the team and will be supported to lead their own JWST programs.

Environment
This research will be done primarily in collaboration with Dr. Elodie Choquet and her team as part of the ESCAPE ERC project (2022-2027). The researcher will evolve in a team of 7 people to be built starting Fall 2022, working on a diversity of topics related to space coronagraphic imaging. The researcher is expected to contribute to and benefit from the mutual interactions with the whole team.

Qualifications
Applicants are required to have a Ph.D. in Astronomy, Astrophysics, or equivalent. Experience in direct imaging observation, instrumentation, exoplanet atmospheric modeling, or dynamical modeling will be given additional consideration, although not mandatory.

Our team recognize the key role of diversity in the scientific community. Selection will be solely made on scientific qualification without regard to gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, color, nationality, or disability status.

Procedure
Applications should include a CV, a publication list, and a statement of research experience and interests (2 pages). Applicants should arrange for 3 letters of recommendation to be sent by the same deadline.
Applications received after the deadline will be considered until the position is filled.

Included Benefits:

Benefits include full access to French social security (medical, dental, and vision insurance), 40 days of paid vacations, and unemployment benefits.
