Research Scientist
Job Summary
Job Description
The applicant will join the Caltech SPHEREx team as a research scientist. The applicant will join and extensively collaborate with the SPHEREx Science Team in its preparation for the scientific interpretation of the SPHEREx mission data. It is expected the candidate will become a full SPHEREx Science Team member by the time of launch and will fully participate in the core science programs. Details about the SPHEREx mission can be found here https://spherex.caltech.edu.
The applicant will contribute to the development of the high-level cosmological analysis, i.e. the scientific analysis required to reach SPHEREx science objectives given a spectroscopic galaxy catalog. It will include when necessary methodology and theoretical development. This work will require extensive software development. Prior experience in redshift measurements using photometric surveys, clustering measurements, higher-order statistics, mitigation of systematic effects, pipeline validation using cosmological simulations, or pipeline development and management will be particularly valued.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent and a strong track record of original research in large-scale structure cosmology. The appointment is expected to be renewed as long as the SPHEREx mission continues (the end of nominal mission is currently scheduled in 2028) contingent on successful performance. Salary will be determined based on experience.
The candidates should send Olivier Doré a resume, a list of publications, and a cover letter. The candidate should also arrange for three reference letters to be sent to Olivier Doré ([email protected]). Application deadline will be July 1, 2022 and will be considered till the position is filled.
