Postdoctoral Position - Time-domain astrophysics in Galactic open clusters

The Kavli Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics (KIAA) at Peking University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate, starting as early as September 2017.

We seek qualified candidates to work with Professor Richard de Grijs on time-domain astrophysics in Galactic open clusters the 50BiN observatory in central China, a collaborative project with the group of Professor Licai Deng (National Astronomical Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences). The successful applicant will work on topics of mutual interest, pursue an independent research program, and contribute to the scientific life of the KIAA.

Peking University, one of the premier universities in Asia, is host to the KIAA, an international center of excellence to promote basic research in astrophysics. KIAA's programs focus on a range of fundamental questions with observational, theoretical, and computational approaches. With English as its working language, KIAA is an intellectual platform for scientific exchange. KIAA is engaged in national and international theoretical and observational initiatives, development and use of facilities, and student training, in partnerships with other Kavli institutes and a network of domestic and international astronomy centers. 

The appointment is for a period of 24 months, with potential for extension up to an additional 12 months, contingent on funding and performance.
