Post-doctoral Fellowship in Experimental or Theoretical High Energy Density Physics, Center for Matter at Atomic Pressures (CMAP)
Job Summary
Job Description
The NSF Physics Frontier Center for Matter at Atomic Pressure (CMAP) (https://www.rochester.edu/cmap/), a multi-institutional enterprise anchored at the University of Rochester, invites applications for a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Experimental or Theoretical High Energy Density Physics (HEDP) to work with OMEGA/OMEGA EP experiments on topics connected to both fundamental HEDP science and its implications for planetary and astrophysical phenomena. Experience with x-ray diagnostics, software relevant to such physics experiments, including parallel fluid simulations are desired. Candidates for this position should have a Ph.D. by the start date in experimental or theoretical high energy density plasma physics, material sciences, astrophysics or related disciplines.
CMAP Fellows at U. Rochester will be part of the larger CMAP NSF Physics Frontier Center, a collaboration among U. Rochester, Princeton, UC Davis, MIT, U. Buffalo, and UC Berkeley, for which the team members communicate weekly.
The position may be available for multiple years, depending on performance. Review of applications will be ongoing until the successful candidate is chosen. Applications consist of a CV, a statement of research interests and 3 letters of recommendation. Please submit all application materials electronically to Ms. Natalie Antal ([email protected]) by February 8, 2021.
