The Astronomy Group at Universidad Diego Portales (UDP) invites applications for postdoctoral research fellowships in astronomy in one of the following research areas: the study of the formation of distant galaxies and their interstellar medium (in collaboration with Prof. Manuel Aravena), the study of hyper-luminous infrared galaxies and galaxy evolution (in collaboration with Prof. Roberto Assef), the study of the structure and evolution of the Milky Way (in collaboration with Prof. Paula Jofre), and the study of stellar transients, supernovae explosions, and their progenitor stars (in collaboration with Prof. Jose Prieto). Selected candidates will be sponsored by an UDP faculty member in applications for postdoctoral grants of up to 3 years from different sources of funding in Chile.
Successful candidates are expected to start their appointments in early to mid-2018. While at UDP, successful candidates will qualify as members of the Chilean community and will be eligible for the 10% privileged access to all telescopes in Chile, including ALMA, Gemini South, VLT, Magellan, CTIO, SOAR, La Silla, APEX, and ASTE.
