Job Announcement Text:

We invite applications for a PDRA position in Radio Cosmology. The successful applicant will play a major role in analysing HERA and MeerKAT data for cosmology by developing and applying statistical data analysis and simulation tools, in collaboration with Dr Phil Bull.

Applicants should have a strong research track record within astronomy, cosmology, or related fields, ideally in areas that involve the development of statistical techniques, parallel programming, simulations, and/or radio data analysis. Experience in similar types of data analysis is desirable but not essential, and we will consider applicants with a broad range of skills.

Queen Mary University of London is a leading university in the UK. This position is based in the Astronomy Unit, which hosts world-leading research groups in cosmology, gravitation, planetary science, and space plasma physics.

The post is supported by an ERC Starting Grant, and is based at the Mile End Campus in London. It is a full time, fixed-term appointment for 3 years (subject to renewal in Y2), with an expected start date of 1st Sept. 2022. The starting salary will be in the range £34,220 - £40,194 p.a. depending on experience.

For informal enquiries, please contact Dr Phil Bull ([email protected]).

Please apply online, including a CV, publication list, and statement of past and current research (2-3 pages). Please also include one or more links to examples of scientific code that you have written. Applicants should arrange for 1-3 reference letters to be sent to spcs[email protected] to arrive by the deadline. We welcome applications from all qualified applicants, but applications are particularly encouraged from traditionally under-represented groups in science.
