Applications are invited for a postdoctoral research position at the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics (MPA) in Garching near Munich, Germany. The successful candidate will join the newly founded "Max Planck Research Group" led by Max Gronke broadly focusing on multiphase gas dynamics and its connection to observations. Fields of interest include small-scale gas physics (e.g., in the circumgalactic medium and galactic winds) and radiative transfer problems (in particular Lyman-alpha & ionizing photon escape and its impact on the surrounding medium). We invite applicants with interests and expertise in any of these or related areas.

The candidate will have access to computing resources dedicated to the MPRG, in addition to general computing facilities at the MPA. The position comes with generous funds for personal equipment and travel. Initial appointment is for 2 years with an extension for a 3rd year likely, contingent on performance.
