The Department of Astronomy at the University of Virginia invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position to work with Prof. Ilse Cleeves in the area of astrochemical modeling and observations of protoplanetary disks.
The postdoctoral research associate will join a vibrant star and planet-formation group spanning the departments of Astronomy and Chemistry, as well as NRAO, located nearby on UVa grounds and home to the NAASC. The successful candidate will also have access to the Astronomy Department's telescope resources, including the Large Binocular Telescope, the ARC 3.5-m Telescope at Apache Point Observatory, and the telescopes of Steward Observatory (including the ARO).
The completion of a Ph.D. degree in astronomy or a related field by the starting date of the appointment is required. Experience with astrochemistry, disk modeling, and/or ALMA observations is appreciated, but not required. This position is initially a one-year appointment, with renewal for an additional two one-year increments. The nominal start date is September 1, 2019.
