We invite applications for two 3-year postdoctoral fellowships in galaxy evolution and the intergalactic medium at the Space Telescope Science Institute in Baltimore, MD.
The successful applicants will work with Drs. Molly Peeples, Jason Tumlinson, and Gregory Snyder at the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI), and with their network of collaborators. Our research group is currently focused on understanding the co-evolution of gas flows and galaxies, including galaxy morphologies, chemical evolution, and the role of the circumgalactic medium (CGM), using a combination of hydrodynamic simulations, analytic modeling, and comparisons to observations. The open positions are targeted at junior scientists with primarily theoretical backgrounds, including numerical simulations. We will encourage successful applicants to lead independent research or new projects in related areas.
The nominal start date is September 2019, with a initial appointments of two years and expected renewals of up to three years, subject to satisfactory performance and the availability of funds. The starting salary depends on year of PhD and level of expertise and includes a relocation package.
