Postdoctoral positions at Tel-Aviv University: explosive transients, jets, compact binaries, chemical evolution
Job Summary
Job Description
Tel Aviv University's Astrophysics Department invites applications for postdoctoral positions to work with Prof. Ehud Nakar and Prof. Dan Maoz in the general fields of supernovae, compact binary mergers and other explosive transients, their associated jets, the binary progenitor populations of such events, and the chemical evolution that they drive. The postdoctoral researchers will work with Nakar (theory oriented) and/or Maoz (observations and data analysis) in the framework of their respective EU ERC grants. Successful applicants will be encouraged to also initiate and pursue an independent research program.
The positions are available immediately and can be extended, based on performance, for up to 4 years. The positions include funds for travel, publication fees, access to a dedicated high performance computing facility (1500 cpu), to the Las Cumbres Observatory (LCO) global telescope network, to the robotic telescopes at TAU's Wise Observatory, and to the Sloan Digital Sky Survey V (SDSS-V, 2020-2025).
Applicants should email a CV and a brief description of research interests, and arrange for at least three reference letters to be sent to Ms. Daniella Gabrielovitch ([email protected]).
