Tsung-Dao Lee Institute (TDLI) in Shanghai, China (http://tdli.sjtu.edu.cn), initiated by Prof. Tsung-Dao Lee, is a newly established national research institute and the current director is Prof. Jie Zhang. TDLI supports research in high energy physics, astrophysics and quantum physics, and aims to become a top-notch physics and astronomy research institute in the world. Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is the contractor and trustee of TDLI and in charge of the operation of TDLI. TDLI has an internationalized environment with English as its working language. Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) is a world-renowned higher education institution and one of the top universities in China. Each year SJTU admits students from nearly 100 countries, and more than 7000 international students are studying on campus. Its 31 colleges and schools offer more than 100 graduate programs to international students. The study duration for master’s programs is usually 2-3 years (full-time), and 4 years (full-time) for doctoral programs.
The astrophysical division of TDLI has 3 senior and 7 junior faculty members working on diverse areas such as black hole, neutron star, high energy astrophysics, astroparticle physics, exoplanet detection, planet formation, laser and plasma astrophysics, dark matter, dark energy, etc. The TDLI astro-division is in close affiliation with the Deparment of Astronomy of the SJTU. The astro-division has access to lots of observational and computational facilities such as the 60,000-core Siyuan-I super-computer, the 500m FAST radio telescope, Event Horizon Telescope, Subaru telescope, etc.
