Job Announcement Text:

Nicolaus Copernicus Astronomical Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CAMK PAN) announces the competition for the post-doc position.

We are looking for a candidate with practical experience in the data analysis, classification and data modeling in the field of machine learning, knowledge of statistical methods used in astronomy and advanced programming skills.

Detailed research tasks include design and implementation of methods for analyzing long-duration gravitational-wave signals, exploring new solutions and improving existing well-established data analysis methods with modern machine learning techniques, as well as at studying astrophysical models of neutron stars in order to demonstrate, on one hand, which theoretically-considered neutron star features will be possible (or impossible) to credibly assess with near and farther future detectors, and, on the other hand, what kind of capabilities future detectors should have to credibly observe specific signatures of processes occurring in GW sources.

We seek candidates holding the PhD title in the field of physics or astronomy (or a related field), or PhD students at the last stages of their doctoral thesis.

The contract, for max. 36 months, should start not later than October 1st, 2022 (the candidate should be in possession of the PhD title at this time).

To apply, please visit and follow the instructions on the Official annoucement page.

Included Benefits:

The winner of the competition will conduct research within the OPUS project entitled ''Calm before the storm: rethinking the gravitational-wave analysis toolbox in the face of future challenges'' (nr 2021/43/B/ST9/01714), in cooperation with prof. Michal Bejger. Additional allowance for travel and computer equipment is available.
