Job Description

The Waterloo Centre for Astrophysics (WCA) at the University of Waterloo invites applications for at least three postdoctoral positions of up to 3 years each. First, we are looking to hire two WCA Postdoctoral Fellows. Although these positions are open to researchers in any area in astrophysics, we are particularly interested in candidates whose research is interdisciplinary in nature. We are also hiring candidates interested in working with the DESI, Euclid or Roman surveys with Prof Will Percival.

The WCA (https://uwaterloo.ca/astrophysics-centre/) consists of 12 research-active faculty members with active visitor and meeting programs. Research is undertaken in several areas including cosmology, large-scale structure, CMB, gravitational lensing, black holes, gravitational wave astronomy, galactic dynamics, galaxies, clusters, and quasars, with membership of a number of ongoing and future experiments including DESI, EHT, Euclid, Roman, Rubin/LSST and UNIONS. The group has a close connection to the Perimeter Institute, which is located just a short walk away.

A competitive salary and research allowance will be provided, and researchers will be able to access additional funding for visitors and hosting meetings. Candidates should apply through Academic Jobs Online: https://academicjobsonline.org/ajo/jobs/26061. Only one application is required for all positions.

Candidates with interests in theoretical astrophysics are also encouraged to apply for a CITA National Fellowship to bring to Waterloo (https://jobregister.aas.org/ad/f676a6b5, deadline Nov 6).

The University of Waterloo is committed to equity, diversity, and inclusivity in recruitment, work environment, and work-life balance. While applications are welcome from all qualified individuals, we especially encourage women, persons with disabilities, Indigenous peoples, and members of visible minorities to apply.
