Job Description

Position: The University of Wyoming College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a non-tenure-track Lecturer position in the Department of Physics and Astronomy beginning August 2020. The appointment will initially be for one year but could be renewed for a second year.

Qualifications: A PhD in physics/astronomy or a closely related discipline is highly desirable. Candidates should possess good communication skills, have recent teaching experience, and be interested in teaching computational physics, or upper-level or graduate-level astronomy. Excellent teaching that engages students is the most desired quality. Ability to teach large, freshman-level courses will be considered an added strength.

Responsibilities: Teach 3/3 courses during Spring/Fall terms. Teach courses in physics/astronomy across the curriculum, particularly computational courses. Potentially supervise teaching assistants who are assigned for laboratory and discussion sections. Depending on the department’s needs, opportunities may arise for teaching graduate-level astronomy for those interested. Salary is competitive.

Application Process: Review of applications will continue until the position is filled. Please submit: a cover letter (including a description of teaching interests/experience/philosophy), a curriculum vitae, and contact information for four work-related references.

Official copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts, as well as a Criminal Background Investigation are required for the successful candidate and the results may impact employment.
