Cosmic ray antideuterons as a probe for new physics

This project, funded by the Dutch Research Council, aims at carrying out the analysis of the data collected by AMS-02, searching for cosmic-ray (CR) antideuterons. The goal of this project is twofold: perform the first-ever detection of CR antideuterons with the AMS-02 experiment, and understand the implications of the result in terms of DM and early-universe cosmology.

You are expected to:

• hold a Master degree in physics or astrophysics at the date of the appointment;
• be enthusiastic and motivated to work in a team, becoming part of a large international collaboration;
• ideally have experience in astroparticle physics, theory, or experiments, however, we will also consider candidates with different expertise;
• be proficient in the English language (oral and written) e.g. with a minimum IELTS score of 7.0 overall and 6.5 on parts

A complete application includes the following:

• A general cover-letter (2 pages max) motivating your application and detailing the motivation to apply for the proposed PhD project. Please clearly indicate why you apply for this project, and why you think that your expertise fits the position.
• A research statement (2 pages max) describing your personal research interests and previous research projects
