Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position at the Finnish Centre for Astronomy with ESO (FINCA), University of Turku, in the research group of prof. Jari Kotilainen to work on collaborative projects in extragalactic astrophysics and galaxy evolution.
The applicant must have completed her or his doctorate in astronomy or closely related field before taking up employment and no more than five years before the application deadline. Applicants should have observational or theoretical experience and scientific background in one or several of the following areas: cosmic evolution of AGN, their host galaxies and their environments; black hole - galaxy relation; unified models of AGN; star formation and stellar populations in AGN host galaxies. Candidates are encouraged to pursue independent research program in line with the research interests of prof. Kotilainen, and to participate in teaching and supervision of undergraduate/graduate students.
The start of employment is negotiable between 1 April, 2018 and 1 October, 2018. The appointment is for two years, with a trial period of four months and possibility of extension for third year. Depending on experience, the gross salary of the postdoctoral position is within 3300 – 3700 € per month.
