The Leibniz-Institute for Astrophysics Potsdam (AIP) invites applications for a PhD position to work on the evolution of massive galaxies. The student will work with Dr. Davor Krajnović at the AIP and be integrated within the University of Potsdam graduate school.
The PhD candidate will investigate the most massive galaxies in the densest environments in the Universe, their dynamics and star-formation histories, based on integral-field spectroscopic observations. The successful candidate will hold a master degree or equivalent in astrophysics, physics or a related discipline. The nominal starting date is April 2018, but earlier or later appointments are also possible.

The AIP is located in the historic Potsdam/Babelsberg area, at the southwestern border of the Berlin metropolitan area.
