The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Ohio University invites applications to a
postdoctoral research position in observational and theoretical cosmology, working with
Professor Hee-Jong Seo in the Roman Galaxy Redshift Survey Project Infrastructure
Team.
The successful applicant will also have an opportunity to work on the clustering
cosmology in the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Survey (DESI) collaboration
(https://www.desi.lbl.gov/) with Professor Seo.
The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope, NASA’s next flagship mission in astrophysics, will be launch-ready in October 2026. The Roman Project Infrastructure Teams (PITs) have sustained funding to partner with the Science Centers in developing the infrastructure needed by the community to pursue Roman’s ambitious science goals. Professor Hee-Jong Seo at Ohio University is a Co-I of the Roman Galaxy Redshift Survey (GRS) PIT. Ohio University seeks one postdoctoral scholar to join the team as Roman Junior Scientist, with work focused on deliverables to the NASA Roman Project, in the areas of (1) clustering cosmology focusing on BAO reconstruction and (2) systematics mitigation of galaxy clustering data. This work will be performed in collaboration with the multi-institutional team members within GRS PIT (https://roman-grs-pit.caltech.edu/page/the-team).
This position is up to 3 years, pending satisfactory annual performance.
The applicant must have a Ph.D. in astronomy, astrophysics, or physics, prior to the start date of the position.
