Job Description

Applications are invited for a postdoctoral position in Caltech’s Division of Geological and Planetary Sciences. The successful applicant will collaborate with the Brown research group and the Planetary Ice Chemistry Lab to perform experimental studies related to spectroscopy and irradiation of ices and materials relevant to satellites and other small bodies in the outer solar system. Significant laboratory experience is required; previous work with cryogenic materials, ultra-high vacuum, and visible to mid-infrared spectroscopy is preferred. The successful candidate will have opportunities to mentor graduate and undergraduate students, if desired.

 

The position is available for starting immediately and up until 1 October 2023. The initial duration of the position is one year, with renewal for up to two additional years. The position offers an annual salary range of $64,480/year to $70,000/year and includes benefits as well as access to Caltech’s extensive resources, including the Keck and Palomar Observatories and computational facilities.
