Job Description

The Department of Natural Sciences at the Open University of Israel (OUI) invites applications for a faculty position in physics, with preference to the areas of Gravitational Physics, Astrophysics and Cosmology. The position may be filled at any level, from Lecturer to Full Professor. The tentative start time is around fall 2020.

Qualifications: At the time of hire the successful candidate must have a PhD in Physics, Astrophysics, or a closely related field, as well as some postdoctoral experience and a solid world-class research track record. Candidates must show promise in teaching as well as in research. The teaching is done in Hebrew, so excellent oral and written command of the language is required.

Additioan information: The OUI has the largest number of students in Israel (47,000) with 60 study centers throughout Israel, and is committed to excellence in research and teaching. The main campus is in Ra’anana. Teaching is based on distance learning, utilizing state-of-the-art e-learning technologies and face-to-face academic tutorials and lab courses.

The senior faculty teaching responsibilities include academic supervision of the teaching of courses and developing new courses or updating existing courses in Physics, based on written material and a variety of online resources designed towards self-learning.
