PhD program at Laboratoire d'Astrophysique de Marseille

The Laboratory has major research and training facilities in observational, instrumental and theoretical astronomy, and is a strong participant in space and ground based instrumentation and astronomical surveys.

Positions are available in all the research areas in which the Laboratory is active. These include cosmology and large scale structure, galaxy formation and evolution, star formation and interstellar medium, stars and extrasolar planets, solar system and astronomical optics and instrumentation.

Applicants must have a solid physics background, and a Masters degree or equivalent by the time the position is begun. Previous research experience and skills will be important criteria for the selection. The PhD positions are not restricted by nationality.

Working languages in the Laboratory are French and English. Support for French language courses is also available. The fellowships are available for 3 years.

Whatever the project, the application procedure is the following :

    Students interested by one or more projects have to contact the PhD supervisor(s).
    After discussion, students have to send their application directly to the supervisor(s). Candidates applying to several projects have to specify priorities in their choices.
