Announcement
Job Announcement Text:

The Institute for Astronomy at the University of Edinburgh welcomes applications for two postdoctoral research associate positions in cosmology with the Vera C. Rubin Observatory. The successful candidates will join the research group of Joe Zuntz and Catherine Heymans. The appointments are for an initial period of 2 years, with the possibility of extension depending on continuing funding streams.

We are seeking applicants with expertise in some of the varied and important skill sets required for the future cosmological lensing analysis of LSST. These skills include image simulation, photometry, shear and redshift estimation, mock catalogue production, statistical data analysis, cosmological parameter inference, and theoretical modelling of weak lensing observables. Successful candidates will have the freedom to pursue their own research interests in weak lensing cosmology, within the supportive environment of the IfA. There will be the opportunity to join the KiDS Consortium and LSST Dark Energy Science Collaboration.

The IfA is committed to advancing equality and diversity, and specifically encourages applications from members of groups under-represented in the field. We aim to ensure that our culture and systems support flexible and family-friendly working. Most importantly, Joe and Catherine believe that having fun should be a key aspect of our work. The positions will nominally start in October 2022 with earlier start dates possible and welcomed.

Informal enquiries may be made to Catherine Heymans ([email protected]) and Joe Zuntz ([email protected]).

Candidates should submit a CV, plus a research proposal of up to three pages, before Nov 22nd through the application form here.
Letters of recommendation from three referees will be requested after shortlisting. The first round of video interviews will be scheduled in December 2021.
