LECTURESHIP IN THEORETICAL ASTROPHYSICS

DEPARTMENT OF PHYSICS

UNIVERSITY COLLEGE CORK, IRELAND.

The Department of Physics, University College Cork (UCC) invites applications for a permanent whole time lectureship, with specialisation in theoretical astrophysics, gravitational physics or cosmology (although outstanding candidates from any research area in astronomy can also apply).

UCC is one of Ireland’s foremost research universities, with ~18,000 students and 3,000 staff. The Department of Physics has a long established reputation for excellence in teaching and research. Current strengths include optics and photonics, condensed matter theory, experimental quantum topological matter, quantum information technology, laser spectroscopy and astrophysics. 

The appointee will be required to contribute teaching to the range of BSc degrees offered by the Department of Physics, as well as at postgraduate level. Demonstrated teaching ability is highly desirable, as is the ability to generate research funding.
