Job Description

The Arizona Cosmology Lab (www.azcosmolab.org) at the University of Arizona (UA) Department of Astronomy/Steward Observatory (SO) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate positions to work with Drs Elisabeth Krause, Tim Eifler, and Eduardo Rozo on theoretical and observational projects with cosmological surveys. We are involved in the ongoing DES analysis, in preparing for the early phase of Rubin Observatory and DESI, and in optimizing future NASA missions, e.g., Roman Space Telescope and the recently selected SPHEREx explorer.

We are interested in joint analysis strategies for these different data sets, including information from ongoing and future CMB experiments. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Astronomy, Physics, or related field before the appointment start date. In particular, we welcome applicants with research interests in combining multiple cosmological probes and data sets from different surveys.

UA/SO offers a world-class research environment in astrophysics with strong interdisciplinary programs across the Departments of Astronomy, Physics, Planetary Sciences, and the UA Data Science Institute. Our lab has priority access to local supercomputing resources including distributed, shared-memory, and GPU architectures and we can access national supercomputing resources at NERSC and Pleiades for survey specific projects. The position includes significant scientific independence to design a visible research profile and comes with a corresponding research budget. We strive to create an inclusive diverse research lab and strongly encourage candidates from underrepresented groups to apply.
