Job Description

Universidad Andrés Bello (UNAB) in Santiago, Chile, invites applications for two faculty positions in Astrophysics at the assistant or associate level, depending on the experience of the candidate. The requirements are a Ph.D. degree in Astronomy/Astrophysics or related fields, and a commitment to excellence in research and teaching. Successful candidates are expected to teach and supervise students at the undergraduate and graduate levels. The candidate should be able to teach in Spanish within approximately one year. The astrophysics group at UNAB currently includes 10 faculty, 3 postdocs, 23 Ph.D. students, several dozens at the undergraduate level and aims for vigorous expansion.

Successful applicants will have access to the observing 10% of time guaranteed to Chilean institutions on all international observatories based in the country (ESO, ALMA, Las Campanas, CTIO, Gemini, Vera Rubin, CTA-South etc.). In addition, the group hosts a cluster for numerical simulations and high-volume data reduction. UNAB aims to maintain a gender balance at all levels.
