Post-doc position in Padova - topic: exoplanetary atmospheres
Job Summary
Job Description
We are opening a post-doc position at INAF-OAPD in Padova, Italy on data analysis to investigate exoplanetary atmospheres. The position, for 12 months (renewable; funding secured for 18 months), is part of the HOT-ATMOS project.
The activity will focus on the analysis of high-resolution optical spectra gathered by the HARPS-N spectrograph at the Telescopio Nazionale Galileo by the GAPS collaboration (Global Architecture of Planetary Systems; https://theglobalarchitectureofplanetarysystems.wordpress.com/). The exoplanet atmospheres team within GAPS is constituted by about 20 researchers (staff, postdocs and PhD students) across the major observatories and universities in Italy and Europe, and includes experts of observations and theoretical interpretation of exoplanet atmospheres at high spectral resolution, from the optical to the nIR. The team has acquired more than 400 hours of observations of transmission spectra of hot gas giants (Jupiter to Neptune size), gathering one of the largest datasets of this kind. Most targets have been simultaneously observed in the nIR, opening to the possibility of synergies across wavelengths.
Deadline for the application is *** March 29, 2022 ***
