Job Description

The PAX Group at Penn State's Department of Physics, Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics, and the Institute for Gravitation and the Cosmos has a postdoctoral position in the general area of gravitational-wave data analysis and science.

This position is focused on preparing the Mock Data Challenges for the next generation of gravitational-wave detectors in collaboration with colleagues at the MIT and the University of Syracuse. The Data Challenges support the Cosmic Explorer (CE)  and Einstein Telescope (ET) projects in understanding the challenges in the detection and parameter estimation of gravitational waves in signal-rich data sets. The postdoctoral fellow will also work on adapting new algorithms from other fields such as Neural Networks and Deep Learning to address the problem posed by CE and ET.
