We are offering a PhD fellowship in planet formation commencing 1 April 2024 or after agreement.
The Centre for Star and Planet Formation at the University of Copenhagen is a multidisciplinary research centre focused on understanding the formation of planetary systems, including the Solar System, using a multidisciplinary approach that combines astronomy, astrophysics and cosmochemistry. Globe institute is a department at the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. Globe aims for interdisciplinary research, teaching and outreach and therefore has a strong focus on developing transformative science across our planet’s history.
The successful candidate will work on a PhD project on understanding the formation and composition of Earth and other rocky planets. The methodology can involve either hydrodynamical simulations of planets embedded within a protoplanetary disc or modelling the partitioning of elements between the core, mantle and atmosphere of a growing planet. The results will be compared to data from telescopes, satellite missions and meteorites.
