Columbia University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Scientist position in the Columbia Astrophysics Laboratory to perform research in Physical Cosmology. The successful candidate will join the cosmology group led by Professor Colin Hill in the Physics Department. They will be expected to contribute to ongoing cosmic microwave background (CMB) analysis work in the Atacama Cosmology Telescope and Simons Observatory collaborations. They will have the opportunity to collaborate on research in other areas of cosmology with faculty in CAL and the high-energy theory group.
The initial appointment will be for two years, with the possibility of renewal for a third year contingent upon review. The expected start date for this position is on or around July 1, 2020, although an earlier date can be negotiated. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. or the equivalent degree in physics, astrophysics, or a related field. Prior experience in analysis of CMB or other cosmological data is highly desirable, but not required. The candidate is expected to be able to work well independently and cooperatively with a team and to communicate the results of his/her research both orally and in writing.
